SHELL TRIPLES CREDIT CARD REBATES FOR NEW CARD HOLDERS

HOUSTON, ctober 14, 2005 - As cost-conscious consumers seek savvy ways to save at the pump, Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS), marketer of the No. 1 selling gasoline brand in the United States, launches a new credit card incentive and marketing campaign for the Shell MasterCard® from Citi® Cards. Through a 60-day introductory offer starting, October 15, 2005, new Shell MasterCard credit card holders will earn triple Shell rebates on all their Shell gasoline purchases, on the first $100 spent at Jiffy Lube locations per day, and on everyday purchases. This means that new cardholders can earn a rebate of 35 cents per gallon at an average price of $2.35 per gallon when using a Shell MasterCard® from Citi® Cards on Shell gasoline purchases.

The Shell MasterCard already offers one of the best credit card rebate programs in the industry with an everyday rebate of 5 percent on all Shell gasoline purchases. However, to motivate more consumers to take advantage of these everyday benefits Shell will triple the rebate to 15 percent for consumers who apply for the card between October 15, 2005 and January 15, 2006. Cardholders can also earn a 15 percent Shell gasoline rebate on the first $100 spent on Jiffy Lube services per day, and they earn a 3 percent rebate on all their other purchases. New applicants can take advantage of the triple reward for 60 days after their new account is opened. At the end of the 60-day period, the rebate will return to the everyday savings of a 5 percent rebate on all Shell gasoline and on the first $100 spent on Jiffy Lube services per day, as well as the 1 percent rebate made on purchases everywhere else MasterCard is accepted. All rebates are applied directly to customers' monthly statements as credits toward future Shell gasoline purchases.

The efforts to promote the Shell MasterCard triple rebate promotion include a national advertising and communications campaign that utilizes cable TV, Internet and radio advertisements and public relations efforts to generate awareness. In addition, Shell stations will receive a comprehensive point-of-purchase package that includes pump toppers, pole signs, register signs and other signage with a unique and eye catching design.
